Initial Planning

Synopsis

The documentary will start with information about scoliosis; what it is, how it is fixed, including images of some cases of the condition. the person explaining the condition will either be me as a sufferer of it or a Doctor if we can get access to one (My GP who referred me/a physiotherapist)

Then would be me explaining my experience with Scoliosis, what it was like before i had the surgery, what it was like going through the surgery and how it impacted me now. This would include X-rays of after the surgery (Possibly before if i can get access to them) After this would be an interview with my mother or father with what it was like for him/her while i was going through surgery and being diagnosed.

Target Audiences

The primary audience for this documentary would be people who does not no much about the condition or people who are being affected by scoliosis. it mainly affects teenagers to young adults but can be found in older people.

Purpose of the Documentary

The purpose of the documentary would be to inform the audience about the medical condition and how it impacts on people.

Format and Style

The Format of the documentary we will film in is Interactive, the reason we would film it in this format would be as the main presenter i would be interviewing, to an extent, my mother and my GP/Physiotherapist and playing an interactive role in the documentary.

Potential Constraints

Legal

The legal issues would be with releases we must make sure that we have releases for all the locations and talent in the productions.

Ethical

There are no ethical issues as it is about me and by putting the idea forward i have agreed to have it shown.

Financial

There could be financial constraints when trying to get the before X-ray of my spine as we had to pay for the after X-Ray also there could be constraints on travel depending on who we use for the interviews.

Technical

The technical issues of the documentary would be getting all of the equipment needed for the production this would be provided by the colleges Audio Visual Library.
